Special Application Heaters
Finned Tubular Heaters
Finned Tubular Heaters
Finned Tubular HeatersFinned tubular heaters are custom-made to fit your application, and are designed for applications where tubular heaters are exposed to forced convection. Placing fins around tubular heaters increases their surface area and improves heat transferring capacity. Finned tubular heaters, compared to regular tubular heaters, run at lower surface temperatures for the same watt densities when placed in identical air streams. Finned tubular heaters are built to order due to individual application requirementApplicationsDryers Recirculation ovens Fan-forced heaters Heat treating and annealingGraph 1 compares watt density, outlet air temperature, and the speed of air flow for regular and finned tubular heaters. Finned tubular heaters are not recommended for applications where outlet air temperatures exceed 600°F.ConstructionThe sheath material of a finned tubular heater and its watt density are critical factors that affect its durability. The standard finned tubular heaters are made of steel sheath and steel fins (750°F maximum surface temperature) since steel is very efficient in heat transfer. Finned tubular heaters have a plain-surface finish. For corrosive environments or high-temperature applications (above 750°F), finned tubular heaters can be made with stainless steel sheath and stainless steel fins.Watt densitiesSafe watt densities that keep surface temperatures below allowable limits depend on the speed of the incoming air and its outlet temperature.Graph 2 shows maximum watt densities recommended for a specific sheath temperature and air velocity.Physical characteristicsThe outside diameter of fins, their thickness, the spacing between consecutive fins, and the element sheath and fin material all play a major role in the effectiveness of heat transfer.Tube diam.Fin thicknessFins per inchFin widthTotal in² per linear inch*Max. sheath length*Outside diam. of fins0.216'0.020'50.375'8.30'240'1.01'0.315'59.20'1.07'0.375'510.10'1.13'0.430'510.83'1.18'0.475'511.60'1.23'*Dimensions are subject to changeKilowattage needed to heat airOptional featuresRustproof coating Stainless steel fins and tubular sheath material Nickel plating Special mounting accessories Various shapes Mounting attachmentsThreaded fittings, if required, are the standard mounting attachments supplied with finned tubular heaters. Electric Immersion Heaters with Flexible Riser
Electric Immersion Heaters with Flexible Riser
Electric Immersion Heaters with Flexible RiserAPPLICATIONS: Provides simplified and versatile installation for L-shaped electric bottom heaters in various tank depths. The flex riser system saves dollars by reducing shipping costs since a parcel carrier can ship most heaters. RUGGED CONSTRUCTION: • Stainless steel heaters: braided 304 stainless steel sheath over a fluoropolymer (PTFE) inner tube.• Titanium heaters: Fluoropolymer (FEP) tube with integral 316 stainless steel reinforcement.• Fluoropolymer (PTFE) heaters: continuous extension of tubing with inline junction box. LONG LASTING PERFORMANCE: Liquid tight fluoropolymer tube is chemically inert and is protected by either a stainless steel outer braid (stainless steel heaters) or reinforced core (titanium heaters). SAFETY FEATURES: Thermal protection standard on all flex riser heaters:Metal heaters: resettable thermal protectorFluoropolymer heaters: J-type thermocouple.SIZES: Metal heaters: 48-inch (1220mm) long, ¾-inch (19mm) diameter, tubing for 500 to 18,000 watt heaters. Fluoropolymer heaters: 48-inch (1220mm) long, 7/16-inch (11mm) diameter, fluoropolymer (PTFE) tubing with inline junction box. Connected to a 36-inch (915mm) long, ½-inch (13mm) diameter, PVC conduit for 500 watt to 6000 watt heaters. 3-inch (75mm) minimum bend radius.VOLTAGES: 120 to 600 volts. Single phase only for fluoropolymer heaters.Single and three phase are available for Metal Heaters.Custom Flexible Riser Lengths are available
